The ruleThe snapshot is its own step of the job, taken before the update runs. If the snapshot fails, the update does not happen.

How it works
The copy is taken before anything moves.
When a job updates plugins, ReDock Web asks the site which plugins have an update waiting at the moment the step runs, copies each one aside, and only then updates. Asking at the moment of the update matters: an hour after you queued it, the list is a different list.

The way back is a button, not an email to your host.
The snapshot sits on the plugin's row with the version it holds and when it was taken. Press it and the restore is queued like any other job: you watch it land, and it is recorded with your name on it. A search and replace has its own way back for the same reason.
